How petition information is used

Effective August 15, 2026

Information collected

When you sign, the campaign collects your name, email address, city, state, optional comment, consent choices, and the date of your signature. If you voluntarily identify a family connection to Porvenir, the campaign also collects the connection type, the person or family name you provide, and whether you permit descendant outreach. Basic technical signals may be processed temporarily to prevent automated or abusive submissions.

What may be made public

Your name, city, and state may be included in the petition, displayed as part of the campaign, or delivered to government officials. An optional comment may be quoted publicly only when you authorize that use. Your email address will not be displayed with the petition.

Email updates are optional

Your email is used to validate and administer your signature. You will receive campaign updates only if you separately select the optional updates checkbox. Signing the petition does not require agreeing to campaign emails.

Family connections remain private

Family-connection information is not displayed with the public petition or delivered as part of the public signature list. Approved campaign administrators may use it to identify connected families. Descendant outreach is permitted only when you select the separate contact checkbox.

Sharing and selling

The campaign may provide the petition and authorized signer information to government agencies, elected officials, preservation partners, or others directly involved in the effort to protect the Porvenir Massacre site. Personal information is not sold.

Retention and security

Petition records are kept only as long as reasonably needed for the campaign, historical documentation, legal obligations, and protection against duplicate or fraudulent signatures. Access to full records is limited to approved campaign administrators.

Your choices

You may request that your signature be corrected or removed, or that campaign emails stop, by contacting info@porvenirmassacre.org. Removing a signature from the active campaign may not remove copies already delivered to public officials or preserved where legally required.

Changes to this notice

This notice may be updated as the campaign develops. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date.
